How to Market a Restaurant in Pakistan: What Actually Fills Tables
July 28, 2026 · 8 min read
Most Pakistani restaurants market backwards. They spend on Instagram aesthetics while their Google listing has wrong hours, no menu, and four unanswered one-star reviews. Fix the order and the same effort produces several times the covers.
Google decides more meals than Instagram
"Restaurants near me", "best biryani in [area]", "cafe open now" are searched constantly, by people who will eat within the hour. That is the highest-intent traffic in the entire business and it is free.
Your Google Business Profile needs: accurate hours including Ramadan and holiday timings, your full menu uploaded as text, photos refreshed monthly, and a reply to every review. Restaurants that do this dominate the map pack in their area.
Your menu must be crawlable text
A menu that only exists as an Instagram highlight or a photographed PDF is invisible to search. Put it on your website as real text. Every dish name is a keyword someone might search.
This single change is the most commonly skipped high-impact fix for Pakistani restaurants.
Photography is the entire product online
Nobody can taste your food through a screen. The photograph is the product. Bad food photography does not just underperform, it actively convinces people the food is bad.
Shoot in daylight near a window. Shoot the food from the angle you would eat it. Show portion size honestly, because misleading photos generate one-star reviews faster than bad food does.
Reviews: velocity beats total
Twenty reviews this month matter more than two hundred from three years ago. Build the ask into service: a QR card with the bill, a prompt from staff at a clearly happy table, a follow-up WhatsApp for delivery orders.
Reply to the angry ones calmly and publicly. Prospective customers read how you handle complaints far more closely than they read the praise.
Delivery apps: use them, do not depend on them
Foodpanda and the rest bring volume at a commission that destroys your margin. Treat them as customer acquisition, not as your business.
Every delivery order should include something that pulls the customer direct next time: a card with your WhatsApp, a discount for ordering direct, your Instagram handle. The goal is converting app customers into direct ones.
Content that actually works for food
In rough order of performance: the food being made, the food being served, staff and kitchen personality, customer reactions, then anything else. Process content outperforms finished-plate content because it is more watchable.
Post at meal decision times, not at midnight. Late morning and late afternoon catch people deciding where to eat.
The seasonal reality
Ramadan restructures the entire year for Pakistani restaurants. Iftar and sehri deals need to be planned and published weeks in advance, not announced on day two. Eid, wedding season and winter outdoor dining each deserve their own plan.
What quietly costs you covers
Wrong hours on Google. No phone number that gets answered. A website that will not load on mobile data. No parking information. No indication of price range. Each of these loses customers who were actively trying to give you money.
